LONDON, UK — In a move to promote inclusivity during the Easter holiday, the British government announced that this year’s Easter Bunny will appear in a full-face burka and niqab as part of a new culturally sensitive initiative.
The initiative, spearheaded by the newly formed Department for Festive Oversight and Cultural Cohesion (DFOCC), ensures the iconic rabbit character can navigate Britain’s diverse communities without causing inadvertent offense to the nation’s growing Islamic population during the Christian holiday.
“Britain is a diverse, multi-faith society, and we must respect the sensitivities of all communities,” said a UK government spokesperson. “A large, white rabbit hopping around handing out chocolate eggs could be seen as insensitive or even Islamophobic by some. Covering the Easter Bunny from head to toe is simply the decent thing to do.”
The decision to cover the beloved children’s character in a full-length black burqa follows King Charles III’s decision to skip an Easter broadcast, with Palace officials confirming the monarch will instead release a short video message wishing Muslims a blessed Ramadan, despite the fact that Ramadan ended weeks ago.
At press time, Easter was officially canceled after a mostly peaceful Pakistani migrant murdered the Easter Bunny in a no-go zone.
