AUSTIN, TEXAS — In response to Elon Musk’s heartbreaking fall below the trillionaire threshold, compassionate supporters have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help the financially struggling billionaire get back on his feet during what organizers describe as “an unimaginably difficult time.”
As of Friday afternoon, the fundraiser had raised $17.42 toward its ambitious goal of $300 billion.
“No one should have to endure this kind of financial devastation alone,” said campaign organizer Melissa Harper while encouraging donors to “give whatever they can, even if it’s just a dollar.” “Today it’s Elon. Tomorrow it could be any of us who suddenly wakes up worth only hundreds of billions.”
The fundraiser’s description urges Americans to remember that losing hundreds of billions of dollars can take a tremendous emotional toll, noting that Musk may soon face difficult lifestyle adjustments, such as delaying the purchase of another private island or settling for a yacht that only has one helipad.
Meanwhile, neighbors reportedly began leaving care packages outside Musk’s front gate containing ramen noodles, canned soup, peanut butter, and coupons for buy-one-get-one Big Macs.
At press time, organizers announced the fundraiser had received its largest donation yet after an anonymous supporter contributed $5, along with a note reading, “Hang in there, buddy.“
