WASHINGTON — What began as a routine diplomatic greeting at the White House reportedly turned awkward Tuesday after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu simultaneously reached for President Trump’s wallet during a ceremonial embrace.
According to witnesses, the two leaders exchanged warm smiles, shook hands, leaned in for the customary world-leader hug, and then froze after discovering each had discreetly slipped a hand into the same back pocket to pickpocket Trump.
“They made eye contact for about three seconds,” reported one Secret Service agent stationed by the door. “There was this silent understanding of, ‘…You too?'”
Sources said neither leader appeared embarrassed by the incident. Instead, each reportedly looked mildly offended that the other had beaten them to the same idea.
President Trump reportedly remained completely unaware of the encounter, smiling for photographers while discussing peace negotiations and trade.
At press time, Trump had reportedly authorized an emergency $80 billion aid package to both nations after Zelensky and Netanyahu convinced him that his wallet had actually been stolen by Iran and Russia.
