WASHINGTON — In a bittersweet end to a long-term political romance, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) has broken up with her fiancé Riley Roberts, telling her college sweetheart that it was finally time they both started seeing other men.
“Riley, I love you, but I think we’ve grown in different directions,” Ocasio-Cortez began, according to a friend who spoke with the congresswoman shortly after the breakup. “I need to focus on my career, and frankly, I think you need to explore your options. We both do. I really think we should both start seeing other men.”
Witnesses claim Roberts took the news incredibly well, with a visible wave of relief washing over his face as he realized he no longer had to pretend her disjointed, endless babbling actually made any sense. AOC then reassured him that he would find greater fulfillment in another type of relationship and that his “energy” had always seemed “curiously European” to her.
According to the source, AOC placed a comforting hand on his knee, nodded, and added, “I’ve already set up a Bumble profile. I think you should try Grindr. Or Scruff. Whatever feels right for your journey. It’s 2026—no judgment.”
At press time, the two were reportedly seen cordially dividing up their shared apartment, with AOC keeping the political literature and Roberts happily claiming custody of the Lady Gaga vinyl collection and the overpriced hair care products.
