MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA — During an emotional press conference Friday outside an empty Minnesota daycare center, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) broke down in tears, mourning the deportation of thousands of Somali children who, according to federal investigators, could not be located because they didn’t exist.
Standing outside the locked daycare with tears streaming down her face, Ocasio-Cortez condemned the Trump administration’s decision to end Temporary Protected Status for Somali nationals, warning that the policy would have devastating consequences for children whose names appeared on daycare attendance sheets but whose physical whereabouts remain a mystery.
“Look into that empty window and tell me your heart doesn’t break,” AOC sobbed, pointing toward a vacant classroom. “These vibrant, completely hypothetical children had their entire lives ahead of them! Where will Child_Name_004 go? Who will pretend to feed government-subsidized salmon to Jeffrey Dharmer now? This is the humanitarian catastrophe Trump has created.”
AOC reportedly became increasingly emotional as she examined the daycare’s enrollment records, which listed hundreds of children who allegedly attended the facility despite neighbors saying they had never seen a child enter the building.
“These children were here,” AOC insisted. “Maybe not physically. Maybe not photographically. Maybe not anatomically. But they were here on the paperwork.”
At press time, AOC was reportedly preparing to visit another empty daycare to mourn an additional 400 children who investigators have been unable to locate, with plans to hold a candlelight vigil featuring 400 candles and zero actual attendees.
