BEIJING, CHINA — The Chinese government condemned President Donald Trump’s reported interest in purchasing Greenland, calling the idea dangerously impulsive and warning that such reckless behavior undermines centuries of carefully managed imperial norms, which officials clarified traditionally involve military threats, historical revision, and the occasional amphibious landing.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China issued a blistering condemnation of Trump’s renewed interest in purchasing Greenland, “describing it as barbaric capitalism run amok” while reminding viewers that China’s own territorial ambitions of taking over Taiwan are part of a “peaceful reunification process” involving missiles, naval blockades, and mandatory patriotic education.
“Attempting to buy a territory shows a disturbing lack of seriousness,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian, standing in front of a large map where Taiwan was labeled “Definitely Ours, Don’t Ask.” “Responsible empires do not engage in open-market real estate transactions. They apply pressure over decades, deny reality repeatedly, and insist the land has always belonged to them.”
Beijing argued that the American attempt to peacefully negotiate a transfer of land with Denmark undermined the hard work other nations such as China put into sustaining a climate of constant existential threat.
At press time, China reassured the international community that while it strongly opposes foreign land acquisition, it remains fully committed to claiming Taiwan through calm, measured actions including large-scale military drills, invasion rehearsals, and carefully worded denials that any of it constitutes a threat.
