WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump paused a meeting inside the Oval Office Saturday morning, pulled out his iPhone, and quietly asked Siri whether the United States was currently at war with Iran after aides admitted they were about 60 percent sure but didn’t want to answer incorrectly.
“Hey Siri, am I currently at war with Iran?” President Trump was overheard saying. “Are we bombing Iran today, negotiating with Iran, or congratulating ourselves on a historic peace deal with Iran?”
Witnesses say Siri spent several seconds processing before finally replying: “I’m sorry. Your Iran policy has changed 14 times since this question was asked.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt assured reporters the exchange was being taken wildly out of context, saying, “The president knows exactly what’s going on. It’s just that what’s going on has been updated several times this morning.”
Iranian officials were equally lost, with one top diplomat reportedly begging the Pentagon to just nuke their capital city strictly as a mercy kill to end the suspense.
At press time, Siri had interrupted the president’s lunch with a notification reading: “Reminder: You scheduled both ‘Bomb Iran’ and ‘Celebrate Historic Peace Deal’ for 3:00 PM today. Would you like to combine these events?”
