WASHINGTON– FBI Director Kash Patel announced Tuesday that the bureau’s recent struggles could be immediately resolved if agents would simply stop following his orders, calling obedience an outdated practice that clearly isn’t working.
“Every time something goes wrong, we discover agents were doing exactly what I told them to do,” Kash Patel said at a press briefing, visibly frustrated. “At a certain point, you have to ask whether they’re using common sense or just blindly listening to the Director of the FBI.”
Patel explained that his instructions were never meant to be interpreted literally, despite being issued in writing, repeated in meetings, and confirmed via follow-up emails. According to Patel, the Bureau’s crippling failures were directly attributable to agents blindly obeying his commands instead of ignoring him.
“A truly effective FBI would know when to disregard its director,” Patel said. “Frankly, if agents stopped listening to me altogether, I think we’d see immediate improvement.”
Patel concluded the presser by announcing a new “Disobedience Initiative,” where agents will be rewarded for ignoring his directives.
