WASHINGTON– With President-Elect Donald Trump set to take office in January, members of Congress have reassured unsure American voters that they will do everything in their power to make sure they fight Trump every step of the way and block all of his Cabinet picks because politicians don’t actually work for the American people.
Kentucky Republican Senator Mitch McConnell gave a press conference to ease the minds of the almost 80 million people who voted for Trump that he has no intention of giving people what they voted for.
“We don’t work for the American people,” said McConnell bluntly after freezing for five minutes. “With Donald Trump returning to office we just wanted to remind everyone that Congress is going to do the complete opposite of what Americans want and will be doing the bidding of all of our donors and special interest groups. I hope that clears things up.”
Democrats praised McConnell’s stance on Congressmembers not listening to the American people, saying that it shouldn’t be a partisan issue that politicians don’t actually care what Americans want.
“This is something both Democrats and Republicans can agree on,” said Democrat Senate Leader Chuck Schumer in reference to Congress totally ignoring the will of the people.
