WASHINGTON– In a last ditch effort to avoid another lengthy partial government shutdown, Speaker Nancy Pelosi has written a Valentine’s Day love letter for President Trump. The letter has been agreed to on Capitol Hill, but there is still more revisions that need to be done in Washington before a deal can be made.
Lawmakers are working around the clock to convince the President to accept the letter before midnight on Friday night, when It will be Senator Chuck Schumer’s turn to pen his love for the president.
Republicans are saying that there isn’t enough ‘I love you’s’ in the letter and there’s still much work that needs to be done, but Democrats are saying that the letter is already sincere and heartfelt.
One of the key factors in averting a shutdown is whether the President will accept the love letter and sign off on a final deal that will avert a partial government shutdown.
After being shown the letter, President Trump took to Twitter to say that his fifth grade secret admirer had written a more believable Valentine letter than the one Pelosi had come up with.
Later on in the day, the President tweeted a more positive message:
“Was just presented second letter from Nancy. Looking over all aspects knowing she finds me incredibly handsome, I’d say letter’s almost as good as one given to me by seventh grade secret admirer.”
