WASHINGTON — After doctors confirmed his body could no longer reliably perform basic tasks such as standing, speaking, or remaining conscious in public, 83-year-old Senator Mitch McConnell announced that he will continue serving in Congress by having his brain removed and installed into a small government-issued machine.
The device, wired into McConnell’s Senate desk and equipped with a microphone, allows the longtime lawmaker to continue voting, blocking legislation, and pausing mid-thought indefinitely without the inconvenience of a failing physical form.
“I’ll never retire,” said the machine in Mitch McConnell’s familiar voice, following a 47-second delay. “I want to be here long enough to block everything President Trump tries getting passed, and then to continue blocking the MAGA agenda for decades to come. My body may be gone, but my grip on power remains strong.”
Legal experts say nothing in the Constitution explicitly forbids senators from existing as disembodied organs connected to federal equipment, calling the arrangement “deeply unsettling, but technically allowed.”
At press time, McConnell’s brain was reported to be functioning normally after briefly freezing while asked about term limits.
