HOLLYWOOD– A new Groundhog Day movie is in the works and will star Bernie Sanders as a socialist Vermont senator who has to repeatedly relive every day not getting the Democrat nomination for President of the United States.
In a new twist to the original Groundhog Day film in which Bill Murray relived every day exactly the same, Sanders will have to repeat every single day losing the nomination but to a different establishment Democrat.
Also joining the cast are Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, and Michael Bloomberg, who will play establishment Washington Democrats who go on to tag-team Bernie daily in an effort to weaken his presidential campaign.
In the film, Sanders wakes up one morning to the news that Democratic National Committee members gave former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton the nomination to face businessman Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election.
After losing the nomination to Clinton, Sanders returns to bed at night assuming the whole thing was only a dream, unaware that he was trapped in a time loop of DNC rule changes and policy reversals.
The next morning Sanders wakes up and realizes that it’s like 2016 all over again, only this time former Vice President Joe Biden is being pushed into the political spotlight, with billionaire Michael Bloomberg getting it the next day and so on.
Rounding out the cast is South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who plays the part of Punxsutawney Phil, a groundhog who always refuses to see his own shadow.
In a last ditch effort to end the loop of constantly losing the Democrat nomination, Sanders kidnaps groundhog Pete and then drives his gas-guzzling Lincoln Town Car SUV into the rising sea levels near one of his three homes, only to wake up the next morning to Hillary Clinton cackling and telling Sanders he will never be president.
CNN movie critics are calling this the best film of the year and are predicting that every politician will win a best actor or actress award except for Sanders.
Look for Groundhog Day 2 to open July 2020 in DNC theaters nationwide.
