SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA —In a groundbreaking move to celebrate authentic California diversity, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Governor Gavin Newsom announced Sunday that Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX Halftime Show will feature a core troupe of 250 backup dancers recruited directly from the fentanyl encampments of San Francisco’s Tenderloin district.
League officials say the performance will be the most socially conscious halftime show yet, reportedly designed to highlight California’s vibrant street pharmacy culture while simultaneously serving as a 15-minute middle finger to the Trump administration.
“For too long, the unhoused fentanyl community has been marginalized by things like public health and sidewalk accessibility,” Governor Newsom said, surrounded by security detail for safety. “By putting these brave souls on the world stage, we are telling the world that California doesn’t solve problems—we turn them into performance art.”
According to the NFL’s press release, the dancers were selected through a competitive statewide outreach program in which candidates demonstrated interpretive stillness, sustained bent-over pose accuracy, and the ability to ignore three straight offers of assistance while perfectly on beat.
At press time, Newsom announced that the game’s “Equity Tax” would be increased by 15% to cover the cost of cleaning the artificial turf with medical-grade bleach immediately following the performance.
