LONDON, UK– British police confirmed Thursday that Santa Claus has been formally charged with a hate crime after he was stabbed by a Pakistani immigrant during a Christmas Eve delivery in London, following what authorities described as his “deeply irresponsible decision to describe the suspect.”
According to the Metropolitan Police, Santa was attacked while exiting a chimney in East London and suffered non life threatening injuries. Officers arrived on the scene shortly afterward, where Santa allegedly compounded the incident by telling them what his attacker looked like and where he came from.
“At that point, the situation escalated,” said a police spokesperson. “We had a victim of a stabbing, which is tragic. But we also had language. And language is where the real danger lies.”
Police clarified that the stabbing itself is being treated as a “contextual lifestyle disagreement” and remains under review, while Santa’s verbal account was immediately logged as a hate incident and fast tracked for prosecution.
“Stabbings are complex,” the spokesperson added. “But statements are much easier to process.”
Witnesses say Santa was placed in handcuffs while bleeding and advised of his rights, which included the right to remain silent “for everyone’s safety.” His sack of gifts was seized as evidence and later given to a boatload of newly arrived African migrants.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the violence in a brief statement before pivoting to what he called “the more concerning issue.”
“No one deserves to be stabbed,” Starmer’s statement read, “but it is vital that we do not allow harmful narratives to emerge during moments of festive stress.”
As of press time, Santa is scheduled to appear in court early next year, where prosecutors are expected to argue that while being stabbed is unfortunate, saying the wrong thing afterward is unacceptable in modern Britain. Santa faces 69-years in prison and a £5 million fine.
