“This isn’t just about politics, it’s about preserving our cultural heritage,” Johnson pleaded, flanked by community leaders and a banner reading “Hands Off Our Homicides.” “For generations, Chicagoans have perfected the art of spraying AK-47 fire from moving vehicles. Now, thanks to Trump’s heavy-handed tactics, our black youth are at risk of growing up without knowing the joy of dodging bullets on their way to school.”
Johnson cited alarming statistics showing a 30% drop in drive-by fatalities since the deployment began, calling it “a devastating blow to our community’s way of life.” Local gang leaders echoed his concerns, with one South Side Crip lamenting, “How are we supposed to maintain our street cred if the feds are out here arresting everyone who tries to pop a cap in someone’s ass?”
