WASHINGTON — In a bizarre exchange during today’s highly anticipated Immigration hearings, Indian-American Democrat Congressman Shri Thanedar interrupted a heated House Judiciary Committee hearing on immigration enforcement to aggressively sell ICE Director Todd Lyons an extended car warranty on his “2005 Honda Civic.”
The hearing took an unexpected turn when Rep. Shri Thanedar, known for his vocal criticism of ICE, pulled out a brochure and began reading from it in a thick Indian accent.
“Mr. Lyons, you have very big problem and are in the troubles, sir,” said Shri Thanedar, reading from the paper in his hand. “Before we abolish the ICE, I must need to tell you that your car warranty have expired last month on your Honda Civic, 2005 model. Final notice, sir.”
After Director Lyons informed him that he didn’t own a 2005 Honda Civic, Rep. Thanedar became enraged and started screaming at the ICE Director to give him his social security number and two Amazon gift cards before the IRS seizes his Honda Civic for lack of warranty payment.
The session ended with Thanedar offering Lyons a bundled deal with virus protection and IRS refund scams if he agreed to purchase the 10-year extended car warranty for only $495.95 per year.
