U.S.– Only days after passing away at the age of 71, the late wrestling icon Hulk Hogan has once again been thrust into the center of racial controversy, after a recently unearthed receipt from 1983 revealed that Hogan purchased a “colored TV” from a local electronics store.
The revelation that Hogan purchased his very own colored TV has sparked a firestorm of accusations that the purchase was a coded act of racial insensitivity and a dog-whistle harkening back to his previous racial scandals.
“The term ‘colored TV’ is deeply problematic,” declared activist Harmony Blaze as she stroked her she-beard. “Hogan’s racist purchase of a colored TV is basically a hate crime. This new racist revelation has reopened wounds and has hurt countless black people who are forced to live in a country where racist White men purchase colored TVs for their own bigoted enjoyment.”
The outrage over Hogan’s decades-old purchase of a colored TV has caused major backlash on social media, with dozens of people promising to never start buying Hulk Hogan merchandise ever again.
A petition on Change.org to have any references to “colored TVs” scrubbed from electronics history has already amassed a staggering 69 signatures as of this writing.
