HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA– A snag during the production of the new movie Saving Private Kitty, a film that is loosely based on the Kitty in the Tree incident, has put the much-anticipated movie on hold. The film’s star, Grumpy Cat, has apparently backed out of the project and producers are scrambling to find a replacement.
A rich, smug producer told media outlets that, due to creative differences, Grumpy Cat opted out of the film and casting agents had to place an ad in newspapers in search of another cat actor to play the role of Private Kitty.
“We can’t give too many details,” said 58 year old producer Ben Horowitz to reporters, “but Grumpy Cat wanted to take the movie in another direction.”
When pressed further by reporters about the real reason for Grumpy Cat’s departure, Horowitz let the cat out of the bag. “Grumpy was a little unhappy with the brand of cat litter that we were using for one of the scenes. Due to production costs, we had to use a cheaper quality litter and he said that the litter was giving him rashes under his tail. Unfortunately, the cost of high quality cat litter is substantially higher than having a cat run across the screen for five seconds.”
The production company is asking for the public’s assistance in their choice for Grumpy Cat’s replacement. On the Saving Private Kitty website, there are numerous photos of feline actors vying for the role of Private Kitty and also an option on the site where visitors can vote for their choice of which actor should fill the part.
Voting for the next Private Kitty ends in two weeks, or unless a stray cat wonders onto the parking lot.
