TOKYO, JAPAN– Japan is the coolest place on earth and no other country in the world can boast that they have the weirdest and craziest but most amazing things more than the Land of the Rising Sun.
If you want to experience the thrill ride of your life, then the next time you visit Japan make sure you try and take part in these top 10 unique things that we totally created and wish were actually true because it would really be considered insane if it were reality.
Punch A Coworker In The Face Friday
No matter what job you have in Japan (日本), it’s customary on every Friday of every work week to pick one employee at the job and every other coworker takes turns punching them in the face. Regardless of whether they’re a man or a woman, every person at the job has to have their turn to be the one who gets whacked in the face.
At one food processing company in particular named Onaka Suita (お腹すいた), there are over three thousand people employed there and every Friday one unlucky person gets to have their face bashed in by thousands of people in one day. It’s all in good fun and no one gets their feelings hurt. Besides, the employee’s insurance pays for their hospital bills.
Cat Marriages
Cats (猫) are so cute and cuddly to everyone around the world, but in Japan cats are considered smaller humans, which also gives them the legal right to get married.
Cat marriages are recognized by the Japanese government and the odd law even allows for cat owners to marry their favorite felines. Many dogs living in Japan have said it’s unfair and are currently petitioning the government to also have the right to marry cats. 🙀
Fart Parties
Fart parties are so popular in Japan that they’ve even spawned numerous game shows and movies devoted to the aromatic act. People from all age groups enjoy getting together with friends and family and just letting it rip.
An integral part of the fart party is making sure the room is as hermetically sealed as possible so none of the smell escapes and everyone prepares for the fun by eating as much flatulent-producing food as possible beforehand. 💨
Foreigners Dressing In Cosplay
The Japanese are not the only ones who get to have fun committing wild acts. A new law in Japan now requires all foreigners coming into Japan on work visas to have to dress in cosplay (コスプレ).
Inside sources claim that the Japanese Justice Ministry was worried that their country wasn’t strange enough and decided to force any outside people coming into Japan to partake in their outlandish frivolities to help increase the country’s quirkiness.
Pretending You’re Dead
A fun game that many people in Japan like to do is to pretend like they’re dead in an effort to get their distraught parents to the point of total distress before finally letting them in on the joke that they’re unfortunately still alive.
Some critics claim that many children take the game a little too far by not letting their mom and dad know that it was just a joke before the parent’s end up taking their own lives.
Some real hardcore pranksters actually take the trolling game to the next level by literally ending their own life and then having a prerecorded message of their voice sent to their parents telling them that they are fine.
Dress Up Like Donald Trump November
Other than the United States, no one references Trump more than Japan. Trump has become such a strange phenomenon in the little country that Japan has actually devoted the entire month of November to let everyone dress up as Donald Trump and pretend to be the billionaire businessman.
Even people who don’t even care about Trump just love putting on the little blonde wig and using the president’s catchphrases. Japanese bosses especially love November because they use Trump’s catchphrase “You’re fired” whenever terminating lazy employees who work less than 200 hours a week.
Skydiving Without A Parachute
Nothing gets your adrenaline flowing like jumping out of an airplane at 30,000 feet without a parachute on, but for many Japanese thrill seekers it is the ultimate rush. Skydiving without parachutes has become a big business in Japan, but not as big of a business as the companies that get to clean up the bodies on the ground below.
Toilet Sitting Contests
How long can you sit on a toilet (トイレ) without moving? A fun game that many people love to play in Japan involves trying to sit on a toilet for as long as you can in an effort to beat out your friends.
A group of people go into a public restroom, pull their pants down, and then each sit on a different toilet. Whoever gets off the toilet first has to stand there and watch the other contestants until they each drop out one by one. Most toilet games on average last about three and half years.
Volcano Bath
Americans think they’re really tough by jumping into freezing cold water during annual polar plunges, but the Japanese took that idea even further and kicked it up a notch by taking baths in hot molten lava.
Whenever a volcano is about to erupt, groups of naked people take turns jumping into the explosive volcano. Many experts say that volcano plunges really invigorate the body and can have dramatic changes to the skin. 🥵
Animal Body Part Transplants
The Japanese took their love of animals and anime and combined it into a totally cool new cosmetic trend by getting different parts of animals transplanted onto their bodies. The most popular procedure is the kawaii kitten surgery where mostly girls get furry little cat ears sutured onto their heads and cat tails sewn onto their lower backs.
Just in case there’s any animal rights groups reading this, all the animal body parts were taken from animals who filled out their donor cards to donate their bodies to humans in need of unnecessary cosmetic surgeries.
Would you be brave enough to partake in any of these ten popular things in Japan?
Maybe someday we’ll get our wish and these fun activities will become reality, but as it stands right now we’ll have to settle for noodle slurping, ear cleaning parlors, and cuddle cafes.
