SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTES– Merriam-Webster dictionary has completely removed the word “trump” from all their reference books and online site due to offending too many of their readers who happened to come across the derogatory word, saying that simply labeling the word as “potentially offensive” wasn’t enough to keep everyone safe.
Prior to removing the unsafe word, “trump” was defined as “a card of a suit”, “an overriding factor”, or “a dependable and exemplary person.” The removal was finalized after a petition was started online to have the definition of the word “trump” changed to just “orange man bad.”
A spokesperson for Merriam-Webster named Agent O’Brien said their company goes through English words annually and changes, redefines, or sometimes removes words that could possibly go against the Party’s narrative and be mistaken for truth.
“Due to numerous complaints from our readers who suffered major psychological damage,” O’Brien said from his office in Room 101, “we have decided to remove ‘trump’ from our resources and have replaced it with the pleasant word ‘obama’ to better reflect the current state of our society.”
Agent O’Brien, who works in Merriam-Webster’s Ministry of Truth department, later tweeted that numerous other words that have become outdated and offensive to less than 2% of the population will also be removed to facilitate America’s transition to its much-needed totalitarian state.
As of this writing, Merriam-Webster’s Thought Police have stated that the next highly criminal words are set to be removed by early next week, including “white”, “Christian”, and “conservative.” The word “communism” will be redefined as “a utopia of ideal perfection.”
