DES MOINES, IOWA– Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was so cold at last night’s Iowa caucus site that he decided to keep his hands inside his own pockets and not someone else’s, confusing many potential voters who assumed he was running on a socialist platform.
The Democrat Senator was forced to give a news conference afterwards to apologize and explain that it wasn’t something he would normally do and that he promises once he becomes President of the United States he’ll be sticking his hands into other people’s pockets as promised.
The senator told CNN news reporter Jim Acosta that he was merely having a senior moment when he was caught on camera hiding his hands inside his pants.
“Hey, I’m a senior citizen, sometimes I forget things,” Sanders joked as he ogled Acosta’s bulging wallet hidden inside his front pocket.
“I admit though, it did feel a little weird,” Sanders quipped, referring to the televised faux pas. “I want potential voters to feel confident and know it’s not something I normally do.”
Sanders explained that he usually lines his pockets full of just enough cash so his hands won’t fit inside, that way he won’t be tempted to use his own resources.
Sanders added, “Don’t worry, once I become president I’ll be sticking my hands into the pockets of millions of hardworking Americans. I plan on making up for my mistake last night.”
This is definitely satire because everyone knows Jim Acosta carries a purse. 🙂
