WASHINGTON– A Republican congressman has come under fire for posting a fake photo of a man named Barack Obama serving as the former president of the United States, later acknowledging that the image was falsified.
The photoshopped image of the 44th president was shared yesterday on Rep. Paul Gosar’s Twitter account, showing an aspiring actor named Barack Obama posing as the real commander in chief.
“The world would be a better place without this guy in power,” Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar said in the tweet under the doctored photo of Obama standing inside the Oval Office.
Obama, who says that he would be honored to play the president in a Hollywood movie, has never served in public office let alone in the Executive Branch position.
“I’d love to visit the White House some day,” Obama said as he rehearsed his lines for an upcoming sitcom role where he plays a former United States president who is campaigning for a scripted Democratic presidential candidate named Elizabeth Warren.
Due to the fake Obama image getting national headlines, trustworthy fact-checking site Snopes set the record straight by informing the world that the photo was indeed photoshopped.
“This Barack Obama individual was never the 44th President of the United States,” Snopes stated on their website. “After our thorough investigation, we concluded that there is no verifiable proof that Obama has ever stepped foot inside the White House, let alone served two terms.”
