CINCINNATI, OHIO– Who says dogs are the only ones who can be man’s best friend? Police recently questioned a mute man’s pet parrot in connection with his wife’s strange disappearance.
Henry Young, 58, was brought in for questioning after his wife Jill went missing last Saturday. Authorities soon discovered that the man was mute from birth and couldn’t say a thing.
“Mum’s the word with this guy,” said Sergeant Slaughter with a smirk. “At first we thought Mr. Young was just a very quiet guy. After screaming at him, macing him, and beating him with nightsticks for two hours straight to get him to talk, we finally realized that he wasn’t able to speak. Oops.”
That’s when, says Sergeant Slaughter, police brought Henry’s pet parrot Franklin in for questioning.
Franklin, 28, has been with the Young family for almost 20 years. Henry inherited Franklin after a local prostitute passed away and left him the bird in her will.
“The parrot Franklin informed us that Henry and Jill were arguing on the night of her disappearance,” Sergeant Slaughter stated in front of police headquarters. “Franklin went on to say that Jill constantly accused Henry of talking behind her back and that’s when she stormed out of the house and never came back.”
This isn’t the first time Henry and Jill Young made the news. Back in 2016, Jill gave a one on one interview with local news reporters after word leaked out that she had been married to Henry for 35 years and had no idea that he was mute.
“The bird claims the couple has had their ups and downs,” the sergeant added. “After their 2016 interview, Jill became extremely suspicious of Henry and constantly accused him of faking his mute condition.”
“The bird informed us that Jill has left town permanently with no intention of coming back and that we shouldn’t investigate any further. Well, I guess that’s good enough for me. Case closed.”
