LAS VEGAS, NEVADA– Bart Lardwell, 57, from Hennessy, Nebraska who was declared Mr. Olympia last November in a surprising defeat over five time winner Phil Heath is facing charges that he cheated to win.
Most people were shocked over the upset win, not because Lardwell is an obese 500 pound man with two heart attacks under his belt, but because he lied about his age when he claimed that he was only 27 years old. Technically, most people agree that Lardwell’s age would put him into the Master’s category.
Lardwell’s lawyers say that because this is the first time that he has ever competed in a professional bodybuilding contest he should be able to first enter in with the rest of the younger bodybuilders. Some people are asking officials to strip Lardwell of the title and give it to the runner-up.
“I never lied about my age,” Lardwell told various muscle magazine reporters after his controversial win. “When I wrote down my age on the legal documents, my hand was shaking so badly because I had just gone 30 minutes without having any donuts due to my competition training prior to the contest.
“The 5 sorta came out looking like a 2,” Lardwell added in reference to his age. “The same thing happened when I wrote down my name. My last name’s actually Jardwell, but the “J” came out looking like an “L”. I don’t see anyone complaining about that though.”
Although Lardwell has his detractors, many of his bodybuilding fans say that he still deserves the win due to all his hard work and dedication leading up to the event, especially considering that he has never officially competed in a bodybuilding contest in his life.
“I incorporated more chocolate eclairs into my diet,” Lardwell said as he still celebrated by eating a live cow. “I learned that donuts leave your system too quickly, but eclairs tend to hang around a little longer, forcing the heart to work a little harder. That, coupled with pure lard injections are what I believe helped me to defeat my much thinner, muscular opponents.”
Update: After this article was written, it was reported that the world’s fattest bodybuilder Lardwell died from a car accident while trying to eat five eclairs at once in preparation for another competition. The Mr. Olympia title was then officially handed over to the runner-up Phil Heath.
