HONOLULU, HAWAII– Hawaii officials have recently implemented new regulations to cut down on the high amount of rude drivers in the state by placing emoticons on all license plates. Officials say that this will let police officers know whether they’re stopping an easygoing driver or someone who might resist arrest.
According to the Honolulu Welcoming Society, drivers will be given psychological examinations and personality tests to determine their emotional state. Depending on the outcome of the examinations, drivers will be issued license plates with either a happy face or an angry face. People with angry emoticons will be arrested after their first motor vehicle violation.

“We believe this will create a better impression for our tourists,” said 48 year old Akamu Taavi, head of the Welcoming Society. “Without our tourists, people like me will be out of a job and we can’t let that happen.”
Even though some of Hawaii’s citizens are accepting of the emoticon license plates, some people are baffled.
“Why us?” Mike Gable of Pearl City, Hawaii asked. “I always thought states like New York and New Jersey had the rudest drivers. Why aren’t they being labeled by their emotions? Isn’t this some kinda discrimination?”
According to a recent poll, 99% of New York and New Jersey residents claimed that they are the nicest drivers in the country and that Hawaii is one of the worst.
“I ain’t ever goin’ to Hawaii,” said 34 year old Frank Smith of Yonkers, New York. “Those people gotta be some of the rudest morons on the planet. They deserve to have their moronic faces put on license plates.”
