HOLLYWOOD– What could be more exciting than the man who starred in such well-known movie classics as Top Gun, A Few Good Men, Tropic Thunder, and Mission: Impossible playing one of children’s most beloved cartoon characters Bugs Bunny?
In a sit-down interview with news anchor Katie Couric, outlandish Scientologist Tom Cruise spilled the beans on his upcoming film titled Top Bunny, costarring Steve Buscemi as Elmer Fudd and Samuel L. Jackson as Yosemite Sam. The film was green-lighted back in January and given a $500 million budget.
“I tried really hard making this look authentic,” the seemingly ageless Cruise told a listless Couric. “I wanted to really get inside this bunny guy and make the audience believe that I was the bunny.”
After wiping the drool off of the corner of her mouth, the typically bubbly Couric pressed Cruise for more details.
“Tom, tell us how you were able to prepare for this role. It couldn’t have been easy.”
“No, no it wasn’t, Katie,” Cruise responded, suddenly appearing detached. “That’s what my Katie used to say. Each and every time I really prepared for a movie role my Katie would tell me ‘it couldn’t have been easy, Tom’.”
Now chuckling, Cruise added, “To prepare for this film, I watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit at least a dozen times, really. I could probably quote you half of the movie right now, but I won’t.”
Couric was perplexed. “Tom, if you’re playing Bugs Bunny then why on earth would ya be watching Roger Rabbit for research?”
“That’s why my Katie used to say,” Cruise mumbled as he zoned out for a moment. “Did I mention that my Katie used to tell me ‘it couldn’t have been easy, Tom’?”
Look for Top Bunny to open in theaters in Romania before Christmas.
Update: After originally posting this article, it was reported that Tom Cruise has opted out of the blockbuster movie, citing differences with Katie Couric’s name.
