LONDON, UK– Late night host Jimmy Kimmel appeared on British television Thursday to warn viewers that President Trump had turned the United States into a tyrannical nightmare, delivering the message from a country where police regularly arrest pensioners for posting memes with the wrong caption.
Appearing on a popular British talk show last night to warn the UK audience about the creeping fascism consuming America under Trump, Kimmel claimed free speech in America was under attack, hanging by a thread, and basically illegal now, quietly pausing only to ask producers whether he was still allowed to use sarcasm or if that required prior approval.
“People in the U.S. are afraid to speak,” Jimmy Kimmel said with a straight face, right before producers reminded him of what he wasn’t allowed to talk about. “Trump wants to silence comedians, journalists, and everyday Americans.”
Officials stressed that the UK is not authoritarian and that arrests for online speech are merely “community reassurance interventions involving handcuffs.”
At press time, a 74-year-old British grandmother was arrested for watching Kimmel’s speech on losing freedom of speech in America.
