NEW YORK, NEW YORK– Only hours after Pope Leo XIV condemned Israel’s bombing of a Catholic church in Gaza, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) was quick to accuse the pontiff of antisemitism and also place him on their infamous “Antisemitic Hate List.”
The decision to add Pope Leo to their ever-growing list of white supremacists and antisemites came after the pontiff called for Israel to enact a ceasefire following the bombing of a Catholic church where numerous people were killed.
ADL spokesperson Mort Goldman took it a step further, calling on the pope to be removed as the head of Vatican City.
“Pope Leo XIV is perpetuating antisemitic tropes by singling out Israel for criticism,” said ADL’s Mort Goldman on Thursday’s MSNBC. “Calling for a ceasefire in response to Israel’s mostly peaceful bombing of a Catholic church unfairly demonizes the Jewish state. We are organizing a total boycott of all Catholic-related events and are petitioning Congress to remove tax exempt status for the Catholic church. I’m also calling on Pope Leo to step down immediately.”
At publishing time, it was reported that Congress had already condemned Pope Leo’s antisemitic statement and then voted almost unanimously to ban all Catholic churches from the United States.
