HEAVEN– It was an awkward moment for recently deceased Pope Francis after he arrived at God’s Pearly Gates and noticed a really big, beautiful wall surrounding the entire perimeter of Heaven.
While on earth, Pope Francis was a big proponent of getting rid of walls for the United States, going so far as to publicly criticize President Donald Trump on numerous occasions by accusing him of not being a real Christian for trying to keep dangerous illegal immigrants out of the country.
The former progressive pope was faced with a brief moment of cognitive dissonance as he wondered if perhaps he had been in the wrong.
“Oh wait, so you mean there really is a wall around Heaven?” Pope Francis asked himself as he cringed in slight embarrassment. “And here I always thought Heaven had open borders and God let anyone into His Kingdom without a vetting process.”
As Pope Francis approached the Pearly Gates, he noticed a “Private Property. No Trespassing Sign” at the front and a man named Saint Peter checking a Book of Life before allowing souls inside.
“Hmm, I wonder if I was wrong about other things as well?” Pope Francis thought as Saint Peter checked the Book of Life for his name. “You know, like being accepting of homosexuality, allowing trans people to become a part of the church, telling other countries to accept immigrants when Vatican City did not, and saying that people don’t have to believe in God to get to Heaven.”
The pope then realized that he would now have an eternity to ponder on all of those issues.
