MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA– A death row inmate who was only minutes away from facing execution pulled the execution chamber’s fire alarm in an effort to delay his capital punishment.
John Wayne Bundy-Dahmer was sentenced to die for killing nine people with laughter and was set to face the chair when he pulled the fire alarm, later saying that he thought the alarm was the switch the executioner was going to pull to end his life.
“I didn’t know the bright, red box with the words ‘FIRE ALARM’ on it was actually a fire alarm,” said Bundy-Dahmer to the laughing warden and prison guards. “I thought the alarm was the switch to end my life. No really, it’s true, guys. Don’t kill the messenger. I’m not joking. I just wanted to test it out to make sure it worked properly. Honest, I swear I’m telling the truth. Maybe I should get a job here, I could really make a killing.”
While laughing hysterically at the inmate’s funny story, the warden and prison guards began clutching at their chests and complaining of having heart attacks because of just how hard Bundy-Dahmer made them laugh.
At publishing time, Bundy-Dahmer received a few more death sentences for the homicides of all the prison workers that died from laughing so hard. Bundy-Dahmer’s lawyer said his client should be released because all the people that died killed themselves laughing so hard.
