NEW YORK, NEW YORK– A rare occurrence happened last night when The Late Show host Stephen Colbert was forced to apologize profusely to his booing audience for accidentally saying something very funny as opposed to his usual boring, mundane, unfunny routine.
Colbert was met with boos and hisses from his trained seal audience members who have become accustomed to the late night comedian telling the same trite, repetitive political Donald Trump jokes incessantly.
“I have sinned against you,” said Colbert in tears, doing his best Reverend Jimmy Swaggart impression. “I am so sorry for going off script and telling a real, thought-provoking joke that wasn’t about Trump going to prison, or about Trump’s orange skin, or about Trump’s little hands. Please forgive me.”
Although most fans forgave Colbert for telling the rare funny quip, some people became even more enraged at the host because they believed that his crying was just an act and that it too was very funny.
“My tears are real,” promised Colbert as his ratings plummeted down to five viewers per episode. “And to make up for my faux pas, I want to tell everyone a new joke I wrote about Donald Trump. He has orange skin and little hands and the walls are closing in on him and he’ll be in prison very, very soon.”
To reassure his diehard fans that he was sincere, Colbert promised never to be funny again and then also changed the name of his program to The Trump Show With Stephen Colbert.
