MANHATTAN, NEW YORK– Famous Muppet actor Ernie said he was fired from his job at Sesame Street after someone leaked a photo of him wearing a Make America Great Again hat, claiming he is the latest victim of cancel culture due to his political beliefs.
Ernie told Fox News that his boss warned him that differences in opinion will not be tolerated in or out of the workplace and offered him the opportunity to recant his support for President Donald Trump on the show’s next BLM episode, but when he refused to do so he was terminated.
“My boss screamed at me that I’m an actor and all actors are supposed to support the Democrat party,” Ernie said during an interview on Fox & Friends. “I was told if I didn’t retract my support for Trump and burn my hat on the show’s next Black Lives Matter episode then I’ll have to immediately leave the premises.”
The easygoing Ernie has been a member of the Sesame Street cast since 1969, which is longer than any other Muppets other than his irritable partner Bert. The two have been living together in the basement of rundown building in New York as friends until eventually coming out as lovers in 2018.
Rumors have been circulating about the identity of the anonymous source who leaked the infamous photo of Ernie to social media, with many news outlets speculating that it was his former partner Bert who is a staunch Joe Biden supporter.
Within hours of the photo leak, people on Twitter were calling for Ernie’s termination from the show and also for him to be evicted from his home, have his bank account drained, sent to prison for life, and undergo sterilization so that he cannot produce any future Trump supporters.
