RUSSIA– While France was busy celebrating their second World Cup title, the second place Croatian team was appearing before a panel of judges stating that France had won only because they had one too many players on the field.
As most of the world knows by now, during the last twenty minutes of the game, a Canada goose somehow made its way out onto the field and possibly ended up scoring the last goal of the game, giving France the win.
Even though Croatian players and coaches protested the goose’s goal, referees claimed that they never saw the infamous goose touch the ball and thus awarded France the goal.
The reason the goose was allowed to stay out on the field in the first place is because Russia has a ninety year old law on the books that states geese are not allowed to be chased off of a soccer field during mating season. Russian officials claim the goose merely mistook the soccer ball as its mate, which means that the bird wasn’t actually assisting team France.
News of the World Cup goose has been causing controversy as far away as America. American politicians claim that the goose was a Russian bot working for the Kremlin. Democrats are saying that Putin and Trump used the goose as a way to interfere with the NATO proceedings.
