DALLAS, TEXAS– A Dallas man was rushed to the emergency room this morning after listening to a friend’s advice to take the bull by the horns.
Billy Roscoe, 28, suffered serious injuries when he tried grabbing the horns of a male bull that was mating with a cow.
“I didn’t think he’d take me literally,” said 31 year old Brian Ellington, the friend who gave Roscoe the advice. “Billy’s been having some trouble at work with his new boss always telling him that he’s falling behind in his work. I simply told Billy that’s he’s gotta take the bull by the horns and get the job done.”
This isn’t the first time that someone has taken the saying “take the bull by the horns” literally. Last year, a Phoenix man was killed by an angry bull after the man’s girlfriend told him that the best way to satisfy her was to grab the bull by the horns and use his tongue.
Detectives on the case are warning people to be careful whenever taking advice from someone.
“The best thing to do is to check an online dictionary first,” says Detective Melissa Jones. “It’s better to be safe than sorry. People taking things literally has been happening a lot recently. Last week, a man was taken to the emergency room after he sawed off his right leg and left arm when his fiancée told him that an engagement ring would cost him an arm and a leg.”
