U.S.– For most of the country, today is the last day to file your taxes and millions of taxpaying American citizens have been inundating their local IRS offices with the question of whether they’re able to claim Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky as a dependent.
With hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars being sent to support the president of Ukraine so far, a large amount of people have tried to claim Zelensky as one of their dependents in an effort to recoup some of their money back, only to get reprimanded by the IRS.
“For some reason we’ve been asked this question so many times,” said IRS agent Ima Fleecem to news reporters. “So to set the record straight, no, you cannot claim President Zelensky as a dependent. The billions of your tax dollars sent to Ukraine falls under a donation to a non-qualifying charity. The mandatory charitable donation helps the Ukrainian president who is in dire need of a fourth mansion.”
The IRS agent went on to say that Americans’ generous donations to Ukraine also help fund corrupt US politicians who work very hard every day working on behalf of everyone else except for the American citizens for whom they’re supposed to represent.
In addition to not being able to claim Ukraine as a dependent, said the agent, Americans may also not claim Israel, Yemen, Pakistan, Egypt, and every other foreign country the US sends taxpayer money to every year.
