ATLANTA, FLORIDA– A perturbed vegan man is suing Burger King after going into the fast food restaurant to use the restroom, only to find out that the establishment didn’t have a vegan-only bathroom.
Lloyd Christmas, a 24 year old limousine driver from Rhode Island, was driving with a friend when he stopped at a Burger King franchise in Atlanta to urinate, but wasn’t able to relieve himself because the “vegan-phobic” restaurant didn’t serve vegans.
The lawsuit claims that, because Burger King doesn’t have a designated vegan bathroom, Christmas had to hold in his urine, causing him great pain and discomfort.
Christmas is also suing for damaged property and pain and suffering, due to the fact that he wet his pants inside of the building, where every customer and employee proceeded to point at him and laugh hysterically.
The suit alleges that Burger King is vegan-phobic and that discriminating against a non-meat eater is similar to pushing a handicapped person down a flight of stairs.
Christmas “shouldn’t have to share a bathroom with anyone who eats dead animals, because the restroom is contaminated after a meat eater farts their meat by-product flatulence,” according to the suit.
The lawsuit is also asking Burger King to stop selling meat altogether, as to not offend any future non-meat eaters.
Burger King declined to comment to several media outlets other than CNN, with the network saying that the fast food chain is open to everyone and is already installing vegan-only bathrooms in all its restaurants, as well as vegan-only napkins, condiments, separate entrances, and vegan-only registers being served by vegan employees.
A few politicians have taken to Twitter to voice their displeasure at the mistreatment of the meat-free man, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
“We must lower our meat consumption to help save the environment,” AOC said on Twitter. “We can start by banning all meat products, such as Animal Crackers, Almond Milk, Kit Kat, and Swedish Fish.”
Critics warn that caving into vegan pressure will only open the door to other people who abide by strict diets who will also want their own separate areas.
Only hours after the lawsuit made headlines, several other food specific groups have voiced their displeasure at having to share bathrooms with eaters they don’t agree with.
As of this writing, Burger King has announced they will now have a variety of bathrooms to choose from, including men-only, women-only, trans-only, vegan-only, kosher-only, halal-only, Paleo-only, raw food-only, no sugar-only, horse manure-only, and cigarette-only.
