BETHESDA, MARYLAND — In a bold departure from traditional corporate holiday messaging, global aerospace and defense conglomerate Lockheed Martin debuted a touching Mother’s Day campaign this morning, thanking American mothers for their vital role in “incubating the human capital necessary to sustain our multi-billion-dollar quarterly revenues.”
The 60-second commercial, which aired during Sunday morning news programs, features slow-motion footage of mothers rocking infants to sleep, tying toddlers’ shoes, and packing school lunches, all set to an acoustic cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs.”
“To the women who nurtured the hands that will one day operate our precision-guided munitions, we see you and we thank you,” said Lockheed Martin in a press release. “You are there raising the brave men and women who will one day operate our equipment in overseas wars. We also want to send out a special thank you to all the tax slaves who fund our business. To the upstream suppliers of our ecosystem: Happy Mother’s Day.”
Economic analysts have praised the ad for its refreshing transparency regarding the military-industrial complex’s long-term supply chain. While other corporations focus on selling moms jewelry or brunch, Lockheed is focusing on the “demographic replacement rate” necessary to sustain a multi-theater conflict in the 2030s.
At press time, Raytheon was reportedly scrambling to release a competing ad thanking mothers for providing the hearts that keep our heartbeat sensors busy.
