The network spent the entire evening analyzing the problematic optics of the selfish President’s survival, arguing that by ducking behind a large table and Secret Service agents, Trump engaged in a divisive act of self-preservation that fundamentally undermined the shooter’s democratic right to express his frustrations.
“Once again, we see President Trump demonstrating his complete disregard for democratic norms by refusing to die when clearly targeted,” said an exasperated CNN anchor. “By ducking behind the table and then fleeing the area, Trump demonstrated a total lack of empathy for the shooter’s intent.
