UK– As a way to circumvent the stringent new Online Safety Act, British citizens devised a quirky workaround to the Orwellian new law by trading memes in dark alleys and pubs, with UK police vowing to crackdown on the dangerous joke smugglers.
Authorities have already apprehended dozens of meme makers trading or selling their memes on the streets, imposing hefty charges on the criminals of up to sixty-nine years in prison for distributing copies of the prohibited humorous images.
“This is no laughing matter,” said a spokesperson for Scotland Yard only moments after a constable arrested a woman for hiding a cat meme inside of her coat pocket. “Anyone trying to bypass the Online Safety Act by engaging in the illicit meme trade will be arrested immediately and face severe punishment. Maybe now British citizens will think twice before trying to sell cat memes on the black market.”
The spokesperson confirmed UK Police have begun setting up checkpoints across cities to stop and frisk pedestrians on the streets in order to catch meme dealers smuggling insulting images of Prime Minister Keir Starmer or King Charles.
US Vice President JD Vance was later denied entry into the United Kingdom after his plane had landed, with the UK government stating that all memes are banned in Britain, even living ones.
