WASHINGTON– The office of Nancy Pelosi has released a statement saying that the 84-year-old former House Speaker would not be attending President-Elect Donald Trump’s inauguration due to the fact that there would be no alcohol allowed on the premises.
The decision came after Nancy Pelosi received word that not only would there be no alcohol served at the event, but she would also be barred from bringing her own alcoholic beverages into the January 20 presidential swearing in occasion.
“Mrs. Nancy Pelosi will not be attending President-Elect Trump’s inauguration,” the statement started out saying. “Recently, former House Speaker Pelosi received word that the Trump inauguration would be a dry event and that absolutely no alcohol would be served. After out office contacted the Trump transition team, we were informed that Mrs. Pelosi would not be allowed to bring her own alcohol into the event and would be strip searched at the front door.”
The statement went on to say that Pelosi would be willing to attend the event because she wanted to stand behind Trump and rip up his speech once again, but claimed that Pelosi can’t go longer than ten minutes without having a drink.
At publishing time, it was reported that outgoing Vice President Kamala Harris would also not be attending the presidential inauguration for the same reason as Pelosi.
