OTTAWA, CANADA– In a surprise move meant to beat Donald Trump at his own game, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has just announced that starting immediately he will be placing a 25% tariff on all Canadian products being exported to the US with the billions of dollars made off the self-imposed taxes being sent to the United States.
Prime minister Trudeau gave a press conference to brag about how he one-upped Trump by placing the tariffs on Canadian goods before Trump even gets into office, taking away any leverage that the American president has once he gets into office.
“As your prime minister, I promise that I will always put Canada last,” said Trudeau as he reapplied his red lipstick and then looked menacingly at the cameras. “So, starting immediately, I am placing a twenty-five percent tariff on all Canadian exports to the United States before President Trump gets into office. What’s Trump going to threaten me with if I put tariffs on Canadian goods first? Looks like I just took the wind out of President Trump’s sails.”
Responses to the prime minister’s self-imposed tariffs on all Canadian goods to the US was met with mixed reactions, with some Canadian citizens calling Trudeau an idiot while others called him a f***ing idiot.
At publishing time, Trump responded to Trudeau’s threat by making the tariffs ten percent higher.
