LONDON, UK — A British company announced Monday that it had developed a new line of rape-proof underwear designed specifically for women who still leave the house despite growing concerns about their personal safety.
The new product, marketed under the slogan “Because You Never Know,” features reinforced fabric, a tamper-resistant locking mechanism, and an optional GPS tracking system that allows users to share their location with trusted contacts while going about their daily routines.
“We recognized a growing need among women who insist on participating in normal society,” said company CEO Richard Henshaw. “Whether it’s commuting to work, visiting friends, or making the increasingly questionable decision to walk home after dark, women deserve to feel confident knowing they’ve taken every precaution available to them.”
The underwear will be available in several fashionable designs, including the Everyday Commuter, the Evening Out, and the Deluxe Urban Survival Edition for high Muslim areas, which comes equipped with an emergency alarm, reinforced stitching, and a complimentary subscription to a personal safety app that sends automated check-in messages to friends and family.
The company also plans to release a children’s range next year, following what executives described as encouraging interest from parents seeking additional peace of mind when their daughters eventually begin traveling to school independently.
At press time, Henshaw announced that the company was considering a matching line of rape-proof nightwear for women who had begun worrying that staying home was no longer a sufficient safety precaution.
