BAGHDAD, IRAQ– According to the World Tourism Organization, Iraq was voted top tourist destination for the 15th year in a row, barely beating out Somalia and Afghanistan to set a new world’s record for consecutive wins.
Tourism officials announced last week that the number of visitors to Iraq jumped to more than 80 million. That impressive number sets a new record for the Middle East country and government officials in Iraq have boasted about this claim on all their social media sites.
The head of Iraq’a tourism bureau, 47 year old Akbar Shalaam, says that a number of factors contributed to this year’s increase in visitors, including a recently implemented government that was assisted by the United States, beautiful landscaped deserts that were created by a concerted effort between the United states and I-pop group ISIS, as well as all the free advertising that the country has received over the last two decades.
“Much thanks goes to our American business friends,” said Shalaam as he gave British news reporters a tour of the country by camels. “Before early 2000’s, many peoples around the world hadn’t heard about our wonderful country. Realizing that our country was headed for financial disaster, our leader at the time made a call to Washington and asked for help from his American business partners in their government.”
It was then, says Shalaam, that things started to pick up.
“We took great loan out with North Korea to pay for the American’s services,” he added, showing reporters a theme park outside Baghdad. “With the use of slick American advertising and help from our musical group ISIS, we were able to receive the economic boost needed to steer our dying country back in the right direction.”
Out of the 80 million visitors, over 70 million are North Korean’s who assist in land operations, rebuilding, and securing much-needed revenue for Iraq’s new I-Pop music phenomenon.
Iraq got the idea after seeing all the success Kim Jong-Un received from starting his own Kim-Pop music groups.
“We derive most of our revenue from our I-pop musical genre,” he said as they passed an ISIS music studio. “We’re getting our message out to the world through music. We noticed the large successes of South Korea’s K-pop music. North Korea’s Supreme Leader was joking around one day and said we should start our own music groups. So we did.”
