AUSTIN, TEXAS — Thousands of progressive transplants arriving in Texas from California and other blue states expressed confidence this week that they could turn their new home into an exact replica of the places they had just spent years complaining about, assuring longtime residents that they had learned absolutely nothing from the experience.

The ambitious goal comes amid an unprecedented post-midterm migration, where industry insiders note that the primary driver of the real estate boom are the brave individuals fleeing the direct consequences of their own voting patterns.

“We left California because it had become completely unlivable,” said one recent arrival from San Francisco, who had already joined a local political organization dedicated to bringing California-style policies to Texas. “The taxes, the crime, the homelessness, the cost of living. It was all out of control. Obviously, the problem was that California hadn’t gone far enough.”

The newcomers, many of whom cited high housing costs, excessive regulations, deteriorating public services, and increasingly progressive politics as reasons for relocating, said they were eager to bring their political expertise to a state that had somehow managed to avoid many of the same problems.

“I think Texas has a lot of potential, but it needs to become more like the place I came from,” explained one former Los Angeles resident. “People here have no idea how much better things could be if they had to spend half their paycheck on rent and another quarter supporting government programs that don’t work.”
