DUXBURY, MASSACHUSETTS — Local children agreed this week to skip trick-or-treating at houses displaying “Free Lindsay” signs this Halloween, deciding that any homeowner willing to publicly defend a woman accused of killing her own children was probably not someone they wanted to approach for candy.

The neighborhood children reached the decision following weeks of watching suburban mothers defend the high-profile triple homicide.

If they think she should be free, I don’t really want to find out what they think should be in the candy.”

Several children altered their Halloween routes after spotting the signs, with some parents expressing surprise that their children had reached a conclusion that had eluded numerous adults following the case.

Meanwhile, the neighborhood children have reportedly agreed to redirect their trick-or-treating efforts toward houses displaying more traditional Halloween decorations, such as skeletons, witches, and inflatable monsters, which they consider less disturbing than signs advocating freedom for an accused child killer.
