BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA– A coalition of establishment Republicans was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Actor Sunday night after critics praised their decades-long, emotionally complex portrayal of people who campaign as conservatives but govern like bewildered interns for the Democrats.<\/p>\n
Accepting the statue on behalf of the Republicans were Senate Leader John Thune and House Speaker Mike Johnson, thanking Democratic leadership and also Republican voters for believing the character no matter how many times the script contradicted itself.<\/p>\n
“I’d like to thank my acting coaches, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi,” said Senator Thune after dedicating the statue to his hero Barack Obama. “Playing the role of a Republican took a lot of discipline. It’s not easy lying to Conservative voters every day, promising that I’m trying to stop the Democrats when in fact I am one myself.”<\/p>\n
Speaker Johnson agreed with Thune’s sentiment, explaining, “It takes a highly talented actor to be able to look the American people in the eye and tell them that you’re doing your best to hold Democrats accountable when we know full well that we’re lying.”<\/p>\n
