WASHINGTON– FBI Director Kash Patel announced Tuesday that the bureau\u2019s recent struggles could be immediately resolved if agents would simply stop following his orders, calling obedience an outdated practice that clearly isn\u2019t working.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery time something goes wrong, we discover agents were doing exactly what I told them to do,\u201d Kash Patel said at a press briefing, visibly frustrated. \u201cAt a certain point, you have to ask whether they\u2019re using common sense or just blindly listening to the Director of the FBI.\u201d<\/p>\n
Patel explained that his instructions were never meant to be interpreted literally, despite being issued in writing, repeated in meetings, and confirmed via follow-up emails. According to Patel, the Bureau’s crippling failures were directly attributable to agents blindly obeying his commands instead of ignoring him.<\/p>\n
\u201cA truly effective FBI would know when to disregard its director,\u201d Patel said. \u201cFrankly, if agents stopped listening to me altogether, I think we\u2019d see immediate improvement.\u201d<\/p>\n
