CHICAGO, ILLINOIS– In an impassioned press conference held this morning at City Hall, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson denounced President Donald Trump\u2019s deployment of federal agents and the National Guard to combat the city\u2019s spiraling crime wave, warning that the sudden influx of law enforcement could “irreparably disrupt” the city\u2019s thriving drive-by shooting ecosystem.<\/p>\n

“This isn\u2019t just about politics, it\u2019s about preserving our cultural heritage,” Johnson pleaded, flanked by community leaders and a banner reading “Hands Off Our Homicides.” “For generations, Chicagoans have perfected the art of spraying AK-47 fire from moving vehicles. Now, thanks to Trump\u2019s heavy-handed tactics, our black youth are at risk of growing up without knowing the joy of dodging bullets on their way to school.”<\/p>\n

Johnson<\/a> cited alarming statistics showing a 30% drop in drive-by fatalities since the deployment began, calling it “a devastating blow to our community\u2019s way of life.” Local gang leaders echoed his concerns, with one South Side Crip lamenting, “How are we supposed to maintain our street cred if the feds are out here arresting everyone who tries to pop a cap in someone\u2019s ass?”<\/p>\n
