NEW YORK, NEW YORK– Only hours after Pope Leo XIV condemned Israel’s bombing of a Catholic church in Gaza, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) was quick to accuse the pontiff of antisemitism and also place him on their infamous “Antisemitic Hate List.”<\/p>\n

The decision to add Pope Leo to their ever-growing list of white supremacists and antisemites came after the pontiff called for Israel to enact a ceasefire<\/a> following the bombing of a Catholic church where numerous people were killed.<\/p>\n

ADL<\/a> spokesperson Mort Goldman took it a step further, calling on the pope to be removed as the head of Vatican City.<\/p>\n

“Pope Leo XIV is perpetuating antisemitic tropes by singling out Israel for criticism,” said ADL’s Mort Goldman on Thursday’s MSNBC. “Calling for a ceasefire in response to Israel’s mostly peaceful bombing of a Catholic church unfairly demonizes the Jewish state. We are organizing a total boycott of all Catholic-related events and are petitioning Congress to remove tax exempt status for the Catholic church. I’m also calling on Pope Leo to step down immediately.”<\/div>\n
